Every student who dreams to be an engineer in Nepal after completion of intermediate level i.e. +2 level starts they plan to join the top universities in engineering. As engineering is gaining popularity in Nepal with the increase in colleges and institute attracting students by providing better facilities and education. After completing intermediate level most of the students prefer to study engineering as it is one of the most important development factor and highly paid income source in context of Nepal. The education system in Nepal is that bachelors in engineering runs for four years and masters for two years. 1. Institute of Engineering(IOE)/ Pulchowk Campus:
The Institute of Engineering was founded in 1930. It is the first technical school of Nepal. It was reformed in the present shape in 1972 as an organ of Tribhuvan University. IOE runs professional diplomas, undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. programs. The institute has four constituent and ten affiliated campuses in the country. It is the best institute for engineering.
2. School of Engineering, Kathmandu University:
It is a non-government, public institution. It is the third oldest university in Nepal located in Dulikhel, Kavrepalanchowk, about 30 km east of Kathmandu. KU was established in 1991 with the motto "Quality Education for Leadership". This university operates through its seven schools and from premises in Dhulikhel.
3. Paschimanchal Engineering Campus(WRC):
It is one of the four constituent campuses of the Tribhuvan University, Institute of Engineering. It is the second largest engineering campus after the Pulchowk campus in terms of student’s academics. Pashchimanchal campus was established in 1987. Initially technician courses were offered at the campus along with diploma courses.
4. School of Engineering, Pokhara University:
This university was established in 1996 and it is a fifth university of Nepal. PU was formed as part of the government's policy for improved access to higher education.
5. Nepal Engineering College:
The Nepal Engineering College was established in 1994 as the first private engineering college of Nepal and is the largest engineering college. This College was established on 25 September 1994, and this college is currently offering engineering courses at the bachelor’s and master’s levels. It is affiliated to Pokhara University.
6. Pokhara Engineering College:
It is a technical institute established in 1999 in Pokhara, Nepal. Since then it has been promoting engineering and developing career of students for several year. It offers education in different levels and programs. Its diploma programs runs under the affiliation of CTEVT and its Bachelor’s in Engineering and Master’s under the affiliation of Pokhara University.
